The Black Mulberry Tree
I wanted to record the ancient Charlton Black Mulberry tree – which was laden with fruit two years ago.. The original painting was a gift to a special person, but this is one of the studies that I did prior to working on the final version.
I painted the Black Mulberry Tree on Japanese Washi paper made from Mulberry leaves – a practise paper. I use tradtional black Sumi and coloured mineral inks with brushes from China and Japan made from bamboo and hair. The painting has been float mounted but not framed.
