Clivia
Many years ago, i was given a Clivia plant, also known as Natal Lily. it grew and prospered, and the many plants that came from that one. Over the last 40 years have past and now I have a massive display of vivid orange flowers from February to April.
The tall straight stems packed with orange flowers have caused them to be called the Flower of the Gentleman in China. The legends state tha the Clivia bring abundance to the household!
I created this painting one spring two years ago using Japanese Washi paper made from Mulberry leaves. I use tradtional black Sumi and coloured mineral inks with brushes from China and Japan made from bamboo and hair. The painting has been float mounted and framed in natural Ash.
