Honeysuckle

This painting was one of several studies prior to undertaking a commission, The Honeysuckle, with its sweet perfume, climbing tendrils and trumpet shaped flowers epitomises romantic nostalgia. The symbolism of this flower is centred on the bonds of love.

I painted this Purple Lilly on Japanese Washi paper made from Mulberry leaves. I use tradtional black Sumi and coloured mineral inks with brushes from China
