The Last Apple on the Tree
Ten years ago we took on an allotment. After we had cleared the rubbish from the site, we planted fruit trees and bushes, and dug a small pond that frogs, newts and a water vole quickly claimed as their home.
This year, the plants suffered with the lack of water and heat. But this one Cox’s apple tree thrived! After producing a record crop of crisp red apples in late summer, the leaves started to turn colour and fall. But one apple remained. It came off in my hand when it was ready! My painting is a tribute to the tenacity of that apple tree.
This painting is available float mounted and framed in natural ash.
